Obituary

Jean H. Sattler, 81, of Williams Township, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2021. Born in Wilmington, DE, she was the daughter of the late Cleveland and Martha (Sharpless) Hollabaugh. She was the devoted wife of the late Theodore J. Sattler, having celebrated 50 years of marriage together. She was also the proud mother of 3 children and 4 grandchildren.

Jean will be remembered by her loving children Douglas Sattler (Emilee) of Hollis, NH, Melanie Sattler of Williams Township, and Steven Sattler (Anya) of Washington, DC; by her late brother William Hollabaugh of Guerneville, CA, and sisters Mary Donovan of Wilbraham, MA, Linda McCarthy of Bethlehem, and Karen Wu (Michael) of Fountain Hills, AZ; by her siblings through marriage the late Theresa M. Sattler of Williams Township, Larry Sattler (Donna) of Williams Township, Rosemarie Bauman (John) of Bethlehem, the late Michelle DeMenno, (Donald) of Allentown;

Jean will be forever missed by her precious grandchildren Morgan, Daniel, Alex and Theodore; and by her adoring nieces and nephews Brian and Kate Donovan; Caitlin and Jay McCarthy; Laura and Alan Wu; and Christopher, Katherine, Jonathan, and Michael DeMenno.

As an accomplished knitter, spinner and weaver, Jean befriended and mentored many in the fiber arts community and conducted educational demonstrations at public events, especially the Saucon Valley Farmers Market. For a time, she operated a wool cleaning and carding business out of her home. Jean worked glass beads, wove reed baskets and quilted. She enjoyed music, the arts and animals. She had volunteered for the Lehigh Valley Blues Network and remained an avid supporter of Godfrey Daniels music listening room and the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks. She formerly sewed and crafted Anna Nitschmann dolls for the Busy Workers Society of Central Moravian Church. Jean was a generous neighbor and friend, always willing to listen and freely share her time and advice.

Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Falk Funeral Home in Hellertown. Please visit her “Book of Memories” at Falkfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be given to the Third Street Alliance for Women and Children of Easton.

My deepest condolences. Jean was a beautiful light in our community. She was kind, friendly, and generous. She was a patient teacher with a no-nonsense personality, that shared a big smile and laugh with me every time I saw her. I am very grateful to have had the privilege of knowing her. I have no doubt that her spirit will continue to brighten the world. I will always think of her when I see my husband spinning wool. Transforming roving into yarn. A skill to which she so perfectly guided him. Thank you, Jean.

We had the pleasure of getting to know Jean after Melanie became part of our Quadrant Family many years ago. We knew her as a strong and very interesting woman. You could always count on a good conversation with Jean.

We loved seeing her and her beautiful handiwork as she came into the community with her fiber arts. A great lady who will be missed by many. Our condolences to her family.

Jean was such a good friend to me. After many failed attempts, she was the only one who could successfully teach me to spin yarn and encouraged me to challenge myself with my textile work. She became a dear and trusted friend.

May her memory be a blessing to her family and the world..
