Obituary for Elsie Jane Shermer (Newton)

Elsie Jane  Shermer (Newton)
Elsie Jane Shermer, 81, of Frederick and formerly of Red Hill, passed away on October 19, 2017. She was the beloved wife of Harold W. Shermer, celebrating 59 years of marriage in February. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Elsie (Milley) Newton. She was a 1957 graduate of Dickinson College with a degree in mathematics. Jane worked as a bank teller for the former American Bank that became Meridian Bank in Pennsburg for 13 years. Following that, she worked as a teller at the former Harleysville National Bank in Red Hill for seven years before retiring in 2002. She was a member of Palm Schwenkfelder Church where she was a member of the Bell Choir, former Youth Group Leader and Custodian of Endowments.
Along with her husband, Jane is survived by her son Bradley of Newark, DE; her daughters: Bonnie, wife of Lonnie Crawford of Bloomsburg, and Brenda, wife of Michael Swan of Mississauga, Ontario; and eight grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, October 27, at Palm Schwenkfelder Church, 833 Gravel Pike, Palm, PA 18070.
