Obituary

Wendy Jane Eschbach (Gehret) of East Greenville went to meet her Savior face to face on Monday, June 1st, 2020. She was born on April 11, 1960 in Sellersville and was the beloved wife of Rod Gehret.

Wendy most recently worked as a Transition Organizer for Alderfer Auction, prior to that she worked at the front desk of the YMCA and earlier in her life she was the co-owner of the Upper Perk Golf Course.

She loved and faithfully served as a member of Upper Perkiomen Community Church. Wendy loved people. The people in the Upper Perk Valley, where she was born and lived, were some of her favorites. Everyone she met knew Wendy genuinely cared for them. She invested in people and deeply desired that they would personally know Christ and be passionate followers of Him. Her life exhibited that desire in everything she did.

She was the daughter of the late Willis Eschbach and Geraldine (Schmoyer) Eshbach. Along with her husband she is survived by a brother: Ricky Eschbach of Sanford, NC, and her sister: Linda Horbonis and her husband Stephen of Pennsburg. There are also many other cherished extended family members that she leaves behind.

Her funeral service can be viewed live on the Upper Perk Community Church Facebook page at 7 pm Thursday June 11.

An Open House Celebration of life will be hosted by Rod on Saturday June 27 from 2-5 pm. The location will be posted on Wendy’s Facebook page and the Upper Perk Community Church website as we get closer to that date.

Contributions may be made in her memory to Off the Wall ministries (otwdiscipleship.org) or to missionaries Ben & Nely Fortney in Honduras (https://www.aplos.com/aws/give/LegacyMissionInternational/fortney). Both of these ministries were very close to her heart.

Wendy was such a warm, kind, and friendly person. I first me her when I moved to the Valley in 2002. She was at the Upper Perk Golf Course many days and always greeted me with a smile and words of welcome. As the years went by, I would see her at Camelot Park walking the trail or at the YMCA greeting people. She NEVER changed. I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to all of her family and friends. I pray that God will comfort you and give you His peace.

I want to thank Wendy's family for sharing her with me. Wendy and I worked together at Alderfers. She was an inspiring and extremely important member of our team. She had a way of walking into a room and smiling and everyone of us felt special and acknowledged. She brought out the best in each of us and was quick to let us know how special we were. I welcomed every day I worked with her. Her humor, knowledge, compassion, energy and logic made it a great day. She was always willing to help and was clear about her thoughts and opinions. I especially valued that in her. My life is better because she was part of it. Thank you for sharing.
