Obituary for Thomas G. Hefele

Thomas G. Hefele, born on December 5, 1935, age 83, of Zionsville, Pa., after enduring two major strokes, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving and beloved family on Friday, October 11, 2019. A son of the late Charles and Anna (Scheers) Hefele, he grew up in Catasauqua, Pa., and was raised in the Catholic faith. After serving his country honorably in the Army National Guard, Tom began his business career at Willow Grove Plumbing and Heating in Quakertown, Pa. He then established, owned and operated Coopersburg Plumbing and Heating Supply successfully for many years. Following that, he went onto work as the primary independent sales consultant for Mayer's Well Drilling in Quakertown, Pa. He finally retired at a young 80 years of age. Tom was a member of the Saucon Lodge of Free & Accepted Mason's #469 in Coopersburg, Pa. and a member of Rajah Shrine in Reading, Pa.

Competitive trap shooting was always Tom's passion. As an expert marksman, he earned countless awards. He became renowned in this challenging sport both nationally and internationally. Tom was a lifetime member of the American Trapshooting Association and the Pennsylvania State Shotgunning Association. He also belonged to the Rural Sportsman Association in Trexlertown, Pa., the North End Gun Club and the Ontelaunee Rod & Gun Club, both in New Tripoli, Pa.

Tom Hefele was a loving, generous man, and always will be a dearly loved father, friend, mentor, and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Annae' Hefele and her husband Mark Knipe of Macungie, Pa. and his son, Daniel Hefele and his wife Ronja of Zionsville, Pa., as well as his three grandchildren: Elizabeth, Nathan, and Alex. He was pre-deceased by his first wife Caroline Hefele and his first daughter, Marnie Hefele both who passed in 2010. He was also pre-deceased by all his siblings: George, Charles, Monica, Lucia, Frances, Joseph, and John.

A Memorial and Prayer Service celebrating Tom's life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main Street, Pennsburg, Pa. 18073. All are invited to gather from 11am until the service begins at 12pm There will be an off-site gathering of family and friends afterwards to be announced at the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Tom's memory to the PSSA, PO Box 24, Palmyra, PA 17078, to create the "Tom Hefele Senior Veteran" trap shooting trophy, to be awarded at the State Handicap Championship.
