Obituary for Ronnie E. Steen

Ronnie E. Steen, beloved husband of Janice Marie (Lord) Steen and beloved father of three, passed away September 10, 2022. Born in Bluefield, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Harrison T. and Nell Louise (Burress) Steen. Ron served with the Strategic Air Command in the Air Force and then attended the University of Maryland. He worked at IBM for five years as a Service Engineer in Dover, Delaware and then for Memorex where he worked a variety of positions, his last being Vice President in Santa Clara, California. His career culminated at EMC Corporation as a director, retiring in 1999 to Betterton, Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay. Ron served on a variety of civic organizations including as a Borough Council Member and on the American Legion in Betterton, Maryland, the Lions Club in Millington, Maryland, and the Veterans of Foreign War in Red Hill, Pennsylvania.

Ron and Janice enjoyed 63 years of marriage together raising three wonderful children, living and traveling across the globe. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their home on the Chesapeake Bay, traveling, and a good glass of red wine. The rock of the family, he had little patience for nonsense and the biggest heart for his loved ones. He was the most incredible storyteller with the ability to keep everyone on the edge of their seats even with a story they’ve heard eight times before. His belly laugh, unyielding integrity, quick one liners and his contagious smile will deeply be missed. His family and friends will forever be grateful for the time he was with them, though there would never have been enough time.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Janice and their children: Dawn, and her husband Tom Mier, of Yardley, Rhonda Gardner, of Red Hill, and Ron Steen, and his wife, Georgeanne, of Harleysville; grandchildren: Jessica, and her husband Brian Buhman, of Quakertown, Victoria Mier, and her husband Jordon Kellett, of Philadelphia, Tom Mier, of Yardley, and Lily Steen, of Harleysville; great-grandchildren: Grant & Gwen Buhman; a brother: Ray Steen, and his wife, Debbie, of Cambridge, MD; and a sister-in-law: Linda Steen of St. Michaels, MD. He was pre-deceased by his beloved brother, Dick.

A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 163 Main Street, Pennsburg. Friends may gather from 1 PM with services to follow at 2PM. Visit his “Book of Memories” at falkfuneralhomes.com.
