Modris Miervaldis Mednis, 89, of Kintnersville and formerly of Blackwood, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Maija (Karklis) Mednis. Born in Valmiera, Latvia, he was a son of the late Herbert Gotfrids and Marta (Zalte) Mednis. He served the United States honorably in the Army during the Korean War. He was a carpenter working in construction for many years. Following that, he worked in maintenance for the Gloucester Township School District in New Jersey. He was also a prolific writer and poet.
Surviving with his wife are his daughter: Laila Mednis and her husband, Ugis Nigals of Kintnersville; his son Vidvuds Mednis also of Kintnersville, and daughter Laima Howell and her husband Dean of Cold Spring, NY; his beloved grandchildren: Imanta Nigale and her husband, Krisjanis Sils, Didzis Nigals, and Maris & Jakob Howell; and a great grandson, Talis Sils. He was predeceased by a brother, Alfons.
Services will be held private.
