Obituary for Michael Brian Foster
Michael Foster, 74, of Easton, PA passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 9, 2019, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Katherine (Boettger) Foster and his 3 children and their spouses: Bryan and Jacqueline (Weiser) Foster; Michele (Foster) and Chad Leinaweaver; and Christopher Foster and his significant other, Elizabeth Downey; as well as by his 5 grandchildren: Benjamin, Samuel, and Hannah Foster; and Elise and Caroline Leinaweaver. Michael is survived as well by his sister Nancy (Foster) Hart and brother Frank Foster. He was predeceased by his twin David in 1979 and brother Charles “Chuck” Foster n 2012.
Michael was born on October 29, 1944 in Wilmington, DE to the late Francis Leo Foster and the late Anne Theresa (Carroll) Foster. He graduated from Salesianium High School in 1963 and from Saint Joseph’s University in 1967. He was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force from 1967-1972, serving stateside during the Vietnam War at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. Following his service, he worked primarily in warehouse management and distribution with Good Humor in Baltimore, MD and later at ADT in Clifton, NJ and Kenwood in Mt. Olive, New Jersey. At the end of his career, he worked in human resources and compliance at the Lennard Clinic in Newark, NJ. Throughout his career, Michael earned the respect and trust of his colleagues through his integrity, hard work, and easy way with people.
Michael and his family lived in Flanders, NJ for 24 years before moving briefly to Foxborough, MA and then to Easton, PA where he and Mary Kay have lived for the last 15 years. More than anything, Michael loved being a father and grandfather. He had a special way with people and will always be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor, wise words, good stories, and deep compassion.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Roman Catholic Church, 4049 Harley Avenue, Easton, PA on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 1:30 PM. There will be a private burial service soon after at Cathedral Cemetery in Wilmington, DE.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all those at St. Luke’s Hospice for their loving care and friendship over the last 10 months.
