During his service he was awarded Southeast Asia Service Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Must (3rd Award), Navy Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Meritorious Unit Citation (2nd Award) and the Navy Good Conduct Medal (4th Award). He was a proud Marine, whose service will always leave the country in his debt. Upon honorably discharging from the Marines, John became a union carpenter for several years. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.

Surviving are siblings: Michael Sikora, and his wife Becky, of East Greenville, Christopher Sikora, Richard Sikora, and his wife, Barbara, and Debra Huyter, all of Bethlehem; and Donna Sikora Johnston, of California; and many nieces & nephews.
