Lance Corporal John Joseph “Jack” Becker Jr., died peacefully on January 11, 2021 at his home in Bethlehem, PA. A Vietnam and Korea war veteran, he was a 1st ANGLICO specializing in combined arms, fire support, and communications, specializing as a radio telegraph operator.
LCpl Becker was born on June 7, 1941, Barberton, Ohio to John Joseph Becker Sr. and Lube Ljubinkovich. In 1959, he joined the armed forces and was assigned to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. He served most of his military career as part of the foreign service in both Vietnam and Korea. He received an honorable discharge July 24, 1963.
Jack had a great career as a Mechanical Engineer and preventive/predictive technical writer in the nuclear industry. He had a great love for music and shared this love with family and friends. He was known best for his contagious belly laugh.
Jack is now fulfilling his final wish as he donated his body to science at the University of Pennsylvania.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, John, and his mother, Lube, and his sister Joan (Frederick) Bondy. He was survived by his wife Linda, his two children, Ericka Becker of Akron, OH and Jason Becker, his three step sons, Eric (Christy) Poole of London England, Adam (Kathryn) Poole of Mt. Joy, PA and Mykal (Christopher) Fox of Allentown, PA. Also survived by his sister Chris Hazen of Akron, OH, eight grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
