My family and I first got to know Helen at Good Shepherd Church. She was always there for a warm hug and conversation. I got the benefit of getting extra hugs when she would walk past my office when I started working at Shannondell. I was on vacation when she passed and was heartbroken to return and find out she passed. She was such a loving woman and I will miss her.

Helen was truly a fierce woman. She never hesitated to share her thoughts and opinions, she never backed down when she believed in something, and with me, she always gave me the honest truth of a performance or something I did; I always knew where I stood with her, and I loved her for it. And most importantly, she loved her children, grandchildren, and family FIERCELY. She would do anything for them, including come to all of her daughter’s concerts, so much so that she was often the face I would look for each time we sang because no one was as dedicated as Helen was. People loved her for her passion, intellect, and devotion to her faith, her craft, and her family. From quilting to dancing, she always had a surprise up her sleeve, and a witty comment to go with it. Her legacy is not only in the wonderful things she made, but in the equally fierce and loving family she raised. We will truly, truly miss her down here, and God better get that choir of angels in line before their next performance!
