Harriet E. Smith, 79, of Harleysville, passed away May 13, 2020 at the Community at Rockhill. She was the widow of Donald Smith. Born in Quakertown, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Esther (Nase) High. Harriet was a graduate of the Souderton Area High School. She was employed at Merck & Co. for 28 years in several positions, lastly as a Warehouse Group Leader, before retiring. Harriet was a life member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ridge Valley. Harriet enjoyed extensive travel through the United States and Europe, including multiple trips to Israel and Russia, time spent in the Finger Lakes and Virginia Beach, reading mysteries, eating out with friends, movies, her pugs, and car and train rides. She had a wonderfully adventurous spirit and found joy in sharing her travel experiences with friends and family.
Surviving are children: Cheryl, wife of Stuart Holmes, of Palm; G. Scott Nice, and his wife, Sandy, of Millerton, PA; David Nice, of Dundee, NY; and Bruce A. Nice, of Harleysville; a sister: Carol Ianetta, of Telford; grandchildren: Lisa, wife of Richardson Comly, of Pottstown; Jennifer, wife of Michael Straub, of East Stroudsburg; and Stuart C. Holmes, and his finance, Jocelin Nelson, of Coopersburg; Jesse Nice, of Millerton; Lacey Nice, of Hereford; and Harry Nice, of Dundee, NY; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a daughter-in-law, Diane Nice.
