Obituary for Gerald Ira Harpel

Gerald Ira Harpel, 72, of East Greenville, passed away May 3, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Susan K. (Bartman) Harpel. Born in Sellersville, he was a son of the late Leon and Grace (Smith) Harpel. Gerald was a 1965 graduate of the Upper Perkiomen High School, and then served honorarble in the US Army from 1967-1969. Following his service, he worked at the former BF Goodrich, Pottstown for 16 years, and then as a custodian for the Upper Perkiomen Middle School for 26 years. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Pennsburg. Gerald was an avid Miami Dolphin fan. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post # 184, Palm; and the East Greenville Fire Company.

Surviving with his wife, are daughters: Kathleen, wife of Bruce Fritchman; and Amy, wife of Jerry Mistal; grandchildren: Brittany, and her fiancé Tyler Jarrell and Danielle; a great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Fritchman; brothers: Karl, and his wife, Edna; Dennis, and his wife, Susan; sisters: Dolores, wife of Ray Fillman; Rene Whary; Linda, wife of Gilbert Ebright; and Sherry, wife of Randy Peterson; and his faithful dog, Zoey. He was pre-deceased by a grandson, Eric Fritchman; a sister, Deborah Harpel; brothers: Richard and Galen Harpel; and brother-in-law: Clair Whary.

Memorial Services will be at 11 AM Wednesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 85 N. Main Street, Pennsburg. Friends may visit from 10-11 AM at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pennsburg, has been entrusted with his care.
