Obituary for George Novotny Jr.

George Novotny Jr., devoted father and grandfather, passed away on Tuesday March 31, 2020 after reaching the age of 88 years old. He died peacefully within his Perkiomenville home with his beloved daughters by his side. Born in Crucible, PA, he was a son of the late George and Anna (Ratvaysky) Novotny. He served his country honorably in the Army during the Korean War. He held a master’s degree in History and Government from Lehigh University. George was a teacher in the Upper Perkiomen School District for 33 years before retiring in 1990. He taught history, mostly Eastern World Cultures. He was also
the first educator in the district to teach Spanish. George’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandsons. He seemed to light from within when they were in his presence. His happiest times were spent at home with his family. He enjoyed sports and was a Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, music, and trivia game shows. He was a strong patriarch of his family, a devoted teacher, and a good man.
He is loved beyond measure and will be missed by many.
Survivors include his daughters: Georgeanna Novotny, also of Perkiomenville, and Jessica, wife of Christopher Bealer of Douglassville; two grandsons: Nicholas and Joshua Bealer; and a host of nieces, nephews and other beloved friends and relatives. Along with his parents, he was pre-deceased by his brothers: John and Joseph Novotny.
He will be interred privately with his family in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF.org. The Falk Funeral Home in Pennsburg is assisting the family with his arrangements. Visit his "Book of Memories" at falkfuneralhomes.com.
