Obituary for George Edward Meck

George Edward Meck, affectionately known as “Pop Pop”, 97, of Philadelphia and formerly of Perkiomenville, passed away February 13, 2022. He was the husband of the late Mary Ann (Strohl) Meck who died in 2018. Born in Perkiomenville, he was a son of the late Jacob and Ione (Eshbach) Meck. George began his career as a delivery driver for the former Brunner Bakery, East Greenville. He then was a maintenance foreman, in charge of the Farm, at the former Graterford Prison until retiring in 1979. George was a member of Pennsburg United Church of Christ where he was a former president of Consistory. He was a past Master of the Collegeville Lodge # 310, F&AM and a member of the Lehigh Consistory. George was always a gentleman and was known to be able to make and fix almost anything.

Surviving is a daughter, Cynthia, wife of William Palan, of Philadelphia; and grandchildren: Courtney, wife of Rob Paczewski, Tyler, and his girlfriend, Megan Brennan, and Katelyn Palan. He was pre-deceased by his siblings: Albert Meck and Mildred Meng.

A viewing will be on Friday, February 18th from 10-10:45 AM at the Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main Street, Pennsburg. A Masonic Service will begin at 10:45 AM followed by Funeral Services at 11 AM. George will be laid to rest at Pennsburg UCC Cemetery.
