Obituary for Gary Lee Eckard

Gary Lee “Fuzzy” Eckard, 75, of East Greenville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 28, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Kathryn Lee (Jett) Eckard. They celebrated 47 years of marriage last March. Born in Tyrone, PA, he was the son of the late Cary and Betty (Leach) Eckard. He served his country honorably for four years in the Naval Reserve. He worked as a machinist for the former Delbar Products in Perkasie for 13 years. Following that, he worked as a route delivery driver for Schwan’s Foods which was then in East Greenville. For 18 years, from 1996 to 2015, Fuzzy is best remembered as the “Candyman” of the former Gardener’s Candies on Quakertown Avenue in Pennsburg which he owned with his wife. He was a member of the Hosensack Evangelical Congregational Church. He was also an active member of the Senior Center and the Upper Perk YMCA.
Surviving with his wife is his daughter, Juanita wife of Tony Bittenbender of East Greenville; his beloved grandchildren, Courtney and Brandon Martin; his brother-in-law, Thaddeus Jett and his wife Karen, and sister-in-law Donna, wife of Todd Davis; and his niece Lori, wife of Jay Utter; and his beloved pet Sugar.
