Obituary for Fern Halfinger (Gery)
Fern G. Halfinger, 81, of Bluffton, SC and formerly of East Greenville, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2019. She was the beloved wife of George “Jerry” Halfinger. Born in East Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Mazie (Barndt) Gery. Fern was a Registered Nurse and worked for the Community Nurse Association. Until she moved from the area, she was an active member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ in East Greenville.
Along with her husband, Fern is survived by her daughter, Janet Winkler and her husband Gary, of Macungie; her son Jeff Halfinger and his wife Lorna of Lynchburg, VA; her beloved grandchildren: Adam Winkler, Mandy Long, Mark Halfinger, Nathan Halfinger, Laura Southard, and Stephen Halfinger; great grandchildren: Andrew, Abby, Ally, and Amy; and siblings: Kenneth Miller and his wife, Jeannette of Pennsburg; and Donna, wife of Robert Swenk of Pennsburg. She was predeceased by a grandson: Brett Halfinger and siblings: Betty Gauger, Gloria Lachman Heydt, Grace Geho, and Don Miller.
All are invited to gather at New Goshenhoppen UCC from 10 – 11 AM on Saturday, May 25, 2019. A celebration of her life will follow in the church sanctuary. Following the service, she will be interred in the church cemetery.
