Obituary for Edith Arlene Detwiler (Brendlinger)

Edith A. Detwiler, 88, of Zionsville, passed away January 10, 2023 at home from pancreatic cancer with her family by her side. Born on July 1, 1934 in Green Lane, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Carrie (Kolb) Brendlinger.

A 1952 graduate of East Greenville High School where she played softball, hockey and basketball. She worked in the family business driving tow trucks and doing office duties. She had been an active member of the SoLeHi Republican Club at one time being membership secretary. She was also an active member of the Upper Milford Western District Fire Co Ladies Auxiliary having been a trustee and treasurer and helped the fire company with many fundraisers and social activities.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Carl A. Detwiler, who died September 7, 2008; sons: Gregory and Robert; and her 11 brothers and sisters.

Edith was a member of Zions Lutheran Church, Old Zionsville and attended Hosensack E.C. Church.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter: Debra R. Young, wife of Donald S. Young; sons: Carl M. Detwiler and his wife Wendy L. Detwiler, Ronald R. Detwiler; grandchildren: Elizabeth R. Young and her husband Byron C. Masi; Rebecca M. Ivory and her husband Joel, Margaret D. Young and her husband Benjamin Storms, Pamela O’Brien and her husband Aaron, Carl M. Detwiler, Jr. and his wife Susannah, Amanda Detwiler and her companion Brian Young; and 14 great grandchildren.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edith’s name to Hosensack E.C. Church, 7609 Buhman Rd., Zionsville PA 18092.
