Obituary for Donald Dennis Freed

Donald D. Freed, 82, of Arlington, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022. He was the husband of the late Wendy (Smith) Freed who passed away in 2009. Born in Spinnerstown, he was a son of the late Clarence and Evelyn (Miller) Freed. He was a 1958 graduate of Quakertown High School and he held a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Penn State. While at Penn State he was a member of the R.O.T.C. He served his country honorably as a Lieutenant in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He continued his service to our nation as an employee of the Department of Defense until his retirement in 1995. Don was a member of Trinity Great Swamp United Church of Christ in Spinnerstown.

He is survived by his nephew, Chad Freed, of Spinnerstown; his niece, Susan Freed, and her partner, Vincent Roppolo, of Glen Gardner, NJ; grandnieces: Serafina and Abigail Roppolo; and his sister-in-law, Judy Freed of Spinnerstown. Along with his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his twin brother Ronald Freed who passed away in 2017.

All are invited to gather from 10:00 – 11 am on Saturday, April 22, at Trinity Great Swamp UCC, 9150 Spinnerstown Rd, Spinnerstown, PA 18968. A Celebration of his life will be held in the church sanctuary at 11 am. He will be laid to rest in the church graveyard with full military honors.
