Collista A. (Griggs) Blauvelt, 94, passed away peacefully, on Friday, January 3, 2020, surrounded by her family. She resided at Sacred Heart Senior Living in Center Valley, PA.
Collista was born and spent her early years in Jersey City, NJ, where she met the love of her life, John A. Blauvelt at the tender age of 10. They married in 1945 and remained very much “in love” for the next 63 years. Collista and John spent many years in central NJ raising their family. In 1972, they sold their family home and bought a Stewart's Root Beer Drive-in in Stroudsburg, PA. They opened a second restaurant in the Stroud Mall called the Tastebud, a few years later.
Once the grandchildren started to arrive, Collista and John retired to do what they enjoyed most, which was being with their children and grandchildren. Family remained the primary focus of their lives until their passing.
Collista was predeceased by: her husband, John; her sisters, Muriel Krumn and Dolores Devaney; and her brother, James Griggs. She is survived by: her son, John “Jack” Blauvelt and his wife Kathy; her daughters, Barbara Bozzone, Suzanne Blauvelt, Carolyn Goldstein and her husband, Howard.
Collista also cherished her eight grandchildren and their partners, including: Mark Bozzone and his fiancee Kristin Zeto; Jonathon Blauvelt and his wife, Andrea; Kristen Armstrong and her husband Robert; Jillian Laychock and her husband, Josh; Michael Andrew and his wife, Lauren; Michael Bozzone; William Leiner and his wife, Diana; Julie Blauvelt and her fiance, Ricky Stevens.
Collista was also blessed with five great grandchildren. They are Abigail and William Armstrong, Valentina Blauvelt, Catherine and Nicholas Laychock. Collista also had the good fortune of numerous nieces and nephews. Collista had a unique gift of making everyone feel special. She loved us all unconditionally and will live on in the wonderful memories we now cherish.
Funeral services to commemorate her life will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 as follows: 10:00 am - Noon, Viewing at Falk Funeral Home; followed immediately by a Catholic Mass at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus in Hellertown; and a Bereavement Luncheon at The View at Morgan Hill, 100 Clubhouse Drive, Easton, PA 18042, following mass.
