Obituary for Ray Benjamin Hausman

Ray B. Hausman, 94, of Zionsville passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 5th, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Miriam A. (Kleinsmith) Hausman for 71 years. Born on the farm on Limeport Pike, to the late George and Cora (Hillegass) Hausman. He was a lifelong farmer, taking over the family farm in 1964. He owned and operated Hausman’s Fruit Farm and Farmstand. He was very proud of his apples; and he strove to grow the “perfect” apple. Early in his career, his apples won the “Governor’s Bushel” at the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg. Ray was a member of Palm Schwenkfelder Church. He was a 30-year member of the Kiwanis Club and was a past District Lieutenant Governor. He was a member of the Quakertown Lodge of the F.&A.M. Ray also served on the Board of Directors for the Phoebe Home and on the Lehigh County Penn State Extension Board. He was a member and Rawdsman of the Grundsow Lodge #4, Quakertown. He was also an accomplished violinist and trained under the late, Oliver Bernd while playing in the former Red Hill Orchestra. Most recently, Ray was a volunteer at the Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center in Pennsburg.

Along with his wife, Ray is survived by his children, Cynthia Ann, wife of Wayne M. Miller of Newtown, PA, Diane L., wife of William W. Kaintz of Zionsville, and Keith R. Hausman and his wife Carol Ann Bender of Coopersburg; 8 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; and 4 step great grandchildren; and a sister, Rev. Dr. Ann Schoup of TN. He was predeceased by a daughter, Audrey E. Hausman, and sisters: Pauline, Esther, and Ruth.

A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, May 14th at 10 AM at the Palm Schwenkfelder Church, 833 Gravel Pike, Palm. Friends may visit from 9-10 AM.
