Obituary for E. John Franks

Edward John Franks, 93, of Lake Hauto, passed away September 29, 2021. He was the beloved husband of the late Genevieve (Fuller) Franks. Born in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late Charles and Cassie (Jakimorus) Franks. Edward attended the Virginia Military Institute and then attended the former Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia. He was a technical illustrator for the US Government, first at the Johnsville Naval Air Station, and later retiring from the US Marine Corps in Philadelphia in 1975. He was a member of the American Legion, Post# 304, Jim Thorpe; and a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association. He enjoyed gathering with his friends for a daily “Happy Hour” and playing pinochle at the Community Center at his beloved lake.
Surviving are daughters: Jennifer, wife of Dr. John Urbanek, of East Greenville; and Janet, wife of Michael Barrasso, of Waynesboro, PA; grandchildren: Jared Urbanek, and his wife Carol, of Pomona, NY; Justin Barrasso, and his wife Sabrina, of Frederick, MD; and Dr. Rachael Urbanek, and her husband Kevin Cassel, of Wilmington, NC; and great-grandchildren: Rowan Cassel, and Genevieve Barrasso.
Private graveside services will be at the Lithuanian Cemetery in Owl Creek, PA, In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Lake Hauto Beautification Committee, 140 Maple Terrace, Nesquehoning, PA 18240.
