Obituary for Beatrice May Inkpen (Andreasen)

Beatrice May (Andreasen) Inkpen, age 104, of Easton PA and formally of Pennsburg PA, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2021. Beatrice (Bea) was the wife of the late Norman A. Inkpen, Sr. She was born on April 30, 1917 in Plainfield, NJ. She was the daughter of Oscar And Mary (Enright) Andreasen. She grew up in Plainfield with her 7 predeceased siblings, Thomas, Kathleen, Evelyn, Pauline, Oscar, Adolph and Carl in a house on Prospect Avenue that her father, a carpenter, built by hand.
In her twenties, Bea worked as a secretary for Calco Textile Division, which later became part of American Cyanamid. She played on the Calco softball team. It was there, at Calco, she met her future husband Norman and they eventually married during WWII when Norman was serving in the Army. She was part of the “greatest generation”. Bea was a wonderful homemaker throughout her life. She raised her children in Bound Brook, NJ and enjoyed sewing and cooking, everyone loving her apple pies and applesauce cakes. She was an avid swimmer, loved to cross country ski, ice skate, walk and travel the USA and Europe. She played the piano and sang. Music was a big part of her life, especially dancing with Norman to swing band and ballroom music. Bea loved to visit with her grandchildren.

Beatrice is survived by her daughters: Lynn, wife of James Hutcheson of Surf City, NJ, Jill, wife of Alan Zabowski of Belvidere, NJ, Marylou, wife of Craig Jung of Fredericksburg, VA; her son, Norman A. Inkpen Jr. and his wife Joy of Wolfeboro, NH. Also, eleven grandchildren, Aimee, Meredith, Robyn, Juliet, Kevin, Alison, Christopher, Caitlin, Hector, Jack and Shay and seventeen great grandchildren, Sophia, Evan, Madison, Emily, Josephine, Van, Jillian, Owen, Carter, Coco, Prim, Benny, Cary, Sophia, Miles, Jack and Evan. She was also a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pennsburg.

All are invited to gather for a viewing from 10 am on Tuesday, 12/7/2021, at the Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main St. Pennsburg, PA 18073 with a celebration of her life to be held at 11 am. Beatrice will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery, Pennsburg.
